Meldonium Olainfarm anti-ischaemic medicinal product of metabolic action – structural analogue of carnitine precursor gamma-butyrobetaine, in which one of the carbon atoms has been replaced by a nitrogen atom. It decreases the biosynthesis of carnitine, thus inhibiting the transport of long chain fatty acids through cell membranes and preventing the accumulation of non-oxidised forms of fatty acids in cells.
